Stakeholder engangement

CTRG Stakeholders are those persons or groups who are directly or indirectly affected by CTRG project, as well as those who may have interests and/or the ability to influence CTRG outcome, either positively or negatively.

CTRG plays a significant part in the local communities surrounding the Company’s plant, with community activities being implemented predominantly among the Ressano Garcia communities and within the town of Moamba.

 

Community

CTRG is committed to continue building on strong community relations as these are seen as key components to Company’s success and its sustainability. CTRG is an important employer and taxpayer in the Maputo Province, in Mozambique and is committed to the local community welfare too.

Health and Safety

CTRG remains committed to ensuring that each person returns home safely at the end of their shift. This is achieved through the following activities:

  • education of health and safety risks;
  • provision of health and safety related equipment and procedures;
  • prompt reporting of any safety incidents to ensure that lessons are learnt;
  • rewarding improved safety through key performance objectives; and
  • monitoring to ensure long-term health of workforce.

Environment

We, as custodians of the CTRG facility, recognise the impact that our activities can have on the environment. Protection of the environment form an integral part of our planning and decision making. We manage our company in an ethical way that strives for an appropriate balance between economic, social and environmental needs. We expect our employees and service providers to adopt this aspiration in all of their day-to-day activities.

Reducing Environmental Impact

A key target is to reduce the environmental footprint through a number of initiatives such as improving energy and CO2 intensity ratios, waste management, and studying biodiversity.

Our commitment to our Climate Change Strategy and focus on emission reduction continues. Our minimum performance requirements for management of our emissions are detailed in our environment standards. These requirements include:

  • Monitoring of emission sources in accordance with applicable regulations or standards
  • Incorporating emission reduction initiatives into our business planning process

We continue to monitor and implement controls to minimize the potential impacts of dust, gaseous emissions and noise across our operations to remain within regulatory limits and address community concerns. We frequently conduct internal audits, verifications and assessments against our internal standards and legislation, and address potential non-compliances through action plans.

We regularly review our approach to air emissions to ensure we continue to mitigate potential impacts and manage our performance. We continue to support and actively engage in studies near our operations to help reduce the potential impact on our local communities and improve ambient air quality.

CTRG has developed and implements a Waste Management Procedure to identify, classify, store and dispose hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated by CTRG.

We manage various waste streams from our operations including, hazardous waste, organic waste, recyclable waste and Intermediate product, wastewater and effluents and other types of wastes.

We recognize the potential risks posed to communities, our workforce, the environment and shareholders and remain committed to safe and responsible waste management.
